Today we have a document from the French archives entitled “《 a peace treaty” 》
This document was signed between Algeria and France on 17 December 1801
The document contains several items, which were signed between Mustafa Pasha Day of Algeria and Mr. Derois Tainville of France.
We have selected two items from among the items wished by the document.
This item says: We wish Algeria to return to us the money and property it seized from us in its war against us on 21 December 1798, and you can keep the royalties, bonuses and the tribute of the ships involved in the war, but we hope you will return to us the spoils you took in the war where Mustafa Pasha agreed to return it to them.
The second item we have chosen for you from the Treaty reads as follows:
Algeria must stop its enslavement of the French and do not consider them slaves and I do not sell them in the Algerian market of slavery. Mustafa Pasha also agreed on this point.
This document was 1801.
This was a small piece of information in Algeria’s history, in which we wish to add your historical information.
